Tips when planning to use custom tile murals:
All
hand-painted tile murals are created exactly to fit your space and
living/working habits, so even the placement of your coffee pot and
toaster are taken into account.
We
normally begin with unglazed tiles and sinks. All tiles, including field tiles, are
textured and painted before being glazed and fired. On jobs where commercial field tile is
used, it is often beneficial to have the mural offset with a ceramic or
glass border.
If you
are planning to install our hand-painted tile among commercial field tile:Dal Tile or
Florida Tile are the companies we can match in size when using our normal
techniques.When working with
already glazed field tiles, test-firing is required to ensure
compatibility.
When
planning bathroom murals, it is ideal if the mural around the shower or
tub can be seen in the vanity mirror.
To
prevent costly changes and/or dissatisfaction, our policy, unless
specifically agreed upon in advance, is to begin painting only after
actual working dimensions are obtained, and no further changes will be
made.Sometimes people balk about
this, but I have heard horror stories that were extremely costly to fix,
and had less-than ideal results because outlets weren’t put where they
were planned (and they almost never get put exactly where they are marked!)
On
time critical projects, the layout can be adjusted to insure that the
critical design elements are away from areas that may have cutting or
changes involved.
Leaf Lights
Ceiling
fixtures, vanity lights, table lamps, track lighting, lit wall sculptures
– our lights are custom designed to enrich any residential or commercial
space, increasing productivity, as well as enhancing the given
environment.
Our
light fixtures can vine along walls to put light where there is no wiring;
along the tops of your kitchen cabinets, woven between baskets of silk
flowers, or twist around arbors, bed canopies and columns to add mood
lighting and an organic feel to any space. We can help make those dark corners and outdated bathrooms
beautiful, and functional!
The
shade is made with a handmade ceramic leaf (imprinted with an actual leaf)
placed over a mesh shade made of copper, brass, bronze or stainless
steel.For the ceramics leaves (or
other decorative elements), we have a line of regular glaze colors in
addition to being able to work with custom colors. You may also order bisque fired items
(fired once with no glaze) and paint them to match your décor with acrylic
or latex paint.
Copper
pipes and coils form the stem for most of our lamps, although we work with
other metals as well.Retrofitting
existing fixtures is also an excellent way to create lamps which are truly
unique.E-mail a picture ofa fixture you have, perhaps that is
missing a shade, and we can discuss how we could work with it.
We can
choose from a variety of marble and granite stones make wonderful lamp
bases.
If you
are creative/ do-it-yourself type person, you may consider buying the lamp
components from us and finishing them yourself.(We’ll provide general instructions)
